DIOCESAN NEWS

Principal Paul Jefferies

met  his own 10k challenge

About 26 students had taken up the challenge and had spent the term training for the race. I would often meet them early in the morning running out along the highway; a few with sneakers, but most were wearing flip flops, shoes or running in their bare feet. But no one minded or complained, all were very enthusiastic about the challenge.

PWRDF

FUNDING

The faithful generosity of the Anglican constituency provides PWRDF with a platform to continue its international development ministry. The funding comes from responses to appeals, individual or one-time donations and bequests. Some of PWRDF's programs are generously supported by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Financial development is within each of us –– from the 25¢ tithing of allowances, to benefactors recognizing the impact of a legacy. Each of us, through words and actions, is a key participant in PWRDF's mnistry.

PWRDF's commitment to Canadian Anglicans is to share the valued results of this ministry and express gratitude for their actions as PWRDF ambassadors.

Through prayers, actions and gifts, we can make a difference!

STEWARDSHIP QUOTABLE

"The faith community models, supports and holds each member accountable for the maintenance of its joint mission and core values. It is in community where we can call others to join us in living out our baptismal ministries by recognizing and identifying spiritual gifts, empowering their use, and giving thanks for the fruit these gifts bear in the lives of others. It is in community that you gift others by sharing your sacred story, modelling the hope within you, and inviting them to make intentional Christian stewardship a part of their faith journeys. "

HEAVENLY HUMOUR

A rector fond of pure, hot horseradish always kept a bottle of it on his dining room table. He offered some to a guest, who took a big spoonful.

When the guest finally was able to speak he gasped, "I've heard many clergy preach
hellfire, but you are the first one I've met who passed out a sample of it."
