Anglican Journal News: What do you think of Vatican's invitation to disaffected Anglicans?
The Vatican has announced plans that would make it easier for Anglicans unhappy with the ordination of women and openly gay bishops to convert to Catholicism. It would also allow married Anglican priests to retain their status after conversion.
What do you think about this development?
What does this mean for the Anglican Communion and for its relationship with the Roman Catholic Church?
The Anglican Journal invites you respond to these questions on Facebook.

Voices of Hope Pew Bulletin Story

Burundi

There is a plaque that acknowledges the contributions made by Canadian Anglicans in the women’s department of the Conseil National des Eglises du Burundi in Bujumbura, where PWRDF has been funding projects focusing on women living with AIDS and youth since 2001. The thriving centre that provides free HIV/AIDS testing is located in a previously abandoned house. Perpetue Kankindi, the project director, tells us that the government now covers the salary of the centre’s staff, having recognized the value the centre offers to the community. “We thank the Anglican Church of Canada for planting the seeds,” of the program, says Kankindi. Run jointly by the National Council of Churches in Burundi, the centre is expanding its operations to include a full-time clinic with a medical doctor, nurse, daycare and pharmacy. HIV/AIDS programs are crucial in Burundi, where the rate of infection has been growing steadily, especially in rural areas. UN statistics in 2007 revealed that 110,000 of Burundi’s 8.9 million citizens are living with HIV/AIDS; of this, 53,000 are women aged 15 and above and 15,000 are children. PWRDF has supported the work of the diocesan development office in the Anglican Diocese of Bujumbura since 1992.
