Windfall for parishes

by Ana Watts
Parish treasurers are watching their mailboxes for a Diocese of Fredericton window envelope. It contains a cheque equivalent to two months’ clergy benefits premiums. In most cases, that is about $600. “The Finance Committee is pleased to be able to rebate these funds,” says chairman Gerald McConaghy. “We hope it is a bit of encouragement to parishes and we are sure they have lots of good ideas on how to spend it.”  Read the story.

Information for the Parishes from the Finance Committee
• The Finance Committee recently authorized a rebate to parishes for a portion of their 2009 Employer Benefits Premium.

Main Menu updated
Recent visitors to the diocesan web site have noticed and appreciated some changes. The main horizontal drop down menu on the diocesan home page (the central navigational tool for the site) has been restructured and redesigned.  To view a page layout of that menu with visible links go to the Sitemap page.  Some attractive and lively graphic links to major events have also been added to the top of the list of links down the right hand side of the page. The new structure was adopted to make site navigation more intuitive and user friendly.

Choir School goes green

With a little help from the parishes
In order to save trees (as well as postage), the Choir School planning team will not mail printed registration forms to junior choristers for the 2010 Choir School session. Junior choristers are encouraged to download the forms, and in order for junior choristers to know they need to download the forms, parishes are asked to include a notice like the following in their bulletins as often as possible between now and June 6:

Registration forms (four pages) for the 53rd Annual Diocesan Choir School — July 4-11 at Rothesay Netherwood School are available for download now! <www.choirschoolsite.com>.  Junior choristers please print, fill in, and send all four pages to the registrar.  Adult choristers need only complete page one, and add page two if appropriate.
It would also be kind of parishes to print a supply of forms to have available to interested choristers who lack Internet access.
