Time to plan for Back to Church Sunday
Deadline to order resources is June 15!

By Ana Watts
What do a Saturday morning market, urban business district on a weekday morning, and a movie line-up for a block-buster opening have in common? People. Lots and lots of people. And that makes them great places to distribute back to church invitations.  On Sept. 26 the Diocese of Fredericton will join the rest of the Anglican Church of Canada — plus many of our Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada friends — in hosting Back to Church Sunday. The members of the House of Bishops was so impressed by the first-time efforts and results in the Diocese of Toronto in 2009 they are encouraging all their parishes across the country to participate. Read the story.

Anglican Foundation Sunday
The Diocese of Fredericton will celebrate Anglican Foundation Sunday on May 2.
The participation of parishes in this celebration on May 2 (or other near and convenient Sunday) will appropriately enhance our expression of appreciation for the ministry of the Anglican Foundation and the more than $26 million in grants and loans it has made to an enormous variety of ministry projects across Canada.
Everything your parish needs to be a part of Anglican Foundation Sunday — as well as the opportunity to join the foundation — is available on-line.

Congregational Growth and Development Fund
(A working title)

In response to decisions of Diocesan Synod in 2009, the Parish Support and Development Team is working toward the initiation in a diocesan fund similar to the "Builders For Christ Fund" created by Bishop Edward Salmon in the Diocese of South Carolina. The fund is intended to encourage parishes, groups of parishes, deaneries or archdeaconries to undertake innovative, risk-taking projects that will lead to spiritual/numerical/financial growth for the making of disciples. The fund will be distributed as grants to groups with plans which meet this criteria. The planning team has identified sound systems, musical instruments, puppet ministry materials, youth pastors, vehicles, Christian education materials, lunch programs for seniors/children, seniors clubs and family events as likely candidates for support, but it wants further input. Are there projects which your parish or a group of parishes might seek to develop if funding were available? Grants will range from a few hundred dollars to several thousands depending upon the response in the diocese. If you have ideas you might wish to see funded in your area please contact Archdeacon David Edwards <david.edwards at anglican.nb.ca>.

Prayer for Clergy College 2010

Prayer for the Speakers of the Clergy College
God the giver of wisdom, we give you thanksgiving and praise for the gift of knowledge. Give us minds to accept wisdom and hearts to live in wisdom.
We pray for your traveling mercies as our speakers travel to Fredericton for our Clergy College. We pray that the teachings shared by Eric Beresford, Gary Thorne and Brian Walsh in the coming clergy college will bring profound and living wisdom to all of our minds and hearts.
We ask your blessing upon our speakers as they carry on their professions as sharers of wisdom. May the seeds they plant grow to maturity in ways they could never imagine.

Response to Refugee Reform
April 25, 2010
A key piece of work which Canadian Anglicans undertake in partnership with PWRDF is that of supporting refugees. This support occurs around the world through work in refugee camps, assisting returning refugees, and addressing the root causes of refugeeism. It also occurs here in Canada through advocacy work, and as parishes and dioceses work together to sponsor refugee families to settle in Canada. The 50 Refugee Family Sponsorships program is a shining example of this work. Read the story.
