![]() Media Release Diocese of Fredericton 04 April 2005 From the Office of the Bishop of Fredericton Bishop's message at the death of John Paul II Bishop Miller offers condolences on the death of Pope John Paul II Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, On behalf of New Brunswick Anglicans, I offer prayers and condolences to our Roman Catholic relatives, friends and neighbours on the death of John Paul II. Understandably this is an emotional time. There is sadness at the loss of a spiritual leader, a man so many saw and met when he visited Moncton in 1984. There is gratitude for the end of suffering for a man who carried so many physical burdens through the last years of his life. There is joy in the knowledge that he has gone to be with our risen Lord after a life dedicated to Christ and His mission for the world. There is also anticipation of the anointing of a new pope. Through it all, I remind you that your Anglican sisters and brothers join you in prayers of thanksgiving for the life and witness of such a faithful servant. It is through the power of prayer that we all are sustained and brought into a deeper relationship with the Risen Lord. Sincerely in Christ, ![]() + Claude Miller Bishop of Fredericton Contact Ana Watts Communications Officer Diocese of Fredericton 506/459-5358 awatts@nbnet.nb.ca |
